Australia
The fascination with Australian animals continues this week as we reach the end of our Australia study. Students have worked together in their biome groups to design an imaginary animal that has many adaptations for it to live in their biome. After drawing the animal on paper, they then worked together to construct it out of clay. It was great to see these two-dimensional shapes come to life. The next step is to construct these made-up animals using our 3D imagining software, 123D Design, so that we can print them on our 3D printer!
Fifth Grade Science Fair
Fourth Graders were excited to see all the interesting experiments that the Fifth Graders did this year for the Science Fair. We got to see things that exploded, were lit on fire, were rotted, dropped, and destroyed. These experiments and the displays of the scientific process got Fourth Graders excited for this annual Fifth Grade event. Students were already talking about what they might want to do for their science projects next year.
Peter and the Starcatchers
Continuing our week of special events, your thespians visited the Dock Street Theater on Tuesday for a showing of Peter and the Starcatchers. They got an exciting surprise when Mr. Atam appeared on stage as the pirate character, Smee!
We laughed, gasped, and giggled with each other throughout the entire show. Charleston Stage continues to amaze us with their talent and we are so fortunate to collaborate with them each year at TCS. We later got to do a Q&A with our resident expert, Mr. Atam, and students got to ask him questions all about the show and being an actor.
