Curiosity, Insects, and Spookiness!

Week of October 28th – November 1st

TCS Halloween Carnival

We had a spookily magical Halloween at TCS! On the 31st, the entire Cooper School community enjoyed a fantastic Halloween Carnival in our backyard! And it was all organized by our 5th Graders. The carnival is a long-standing tradition at TCS. The 5th Graders and their families worked tirelessly to transform our backyard into a haunted Halloween forest by creating unique carnival booths and games for the younger students to enjoy. Some of the attractions included a pie eating contest, scary escape rooms,  monster cake walk, body part basketball, and spooky face painting. It was such a success and we are so grateful to Miss Rachael, our wonderful 5th Grade buddies, and their lovely families for giving us something to remember for years to come!

Preparing for our Insect Presentation

First Graders have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on everything they want to be in their Insect Museum on November 13th. They have been researching, writing, painting, taking photographs, making models, observing, and working on their presentation skills. We are very proud of them and know you will be, too!

Curiosity Abounds!

One of the many things we love about First Graders is how observant and curious they are about their expanding world. We cherish the opportunities for independent and collaborative exploration that happen each and every day and we love creating opportunities for them to ask questions. Very often those opportunities arise in Morning Meeting and with the Morning Message. Many of the First Graders’ discoveries have come out of the nonfiction books they are reading and writing. Ask your children to share some of the facts they have learned and what they are still wondering about!  Cooper School teachers are eager learners as well! We connect with colleagues and share helpful ideas and advice through our Morning Meetings every day, weekly faculty meetings, and grade level planning meetings.
