Your scholars have turned into actors this week! They have had a blast working with members from Charleston Stage to develop and block a play based upon a ghost story. Students have enjoyed the drama exercises, games, and acting out different characters.
We finished our first novel this week and began our second, Missing May by Cynthia Rylant. Students dove into this short novel focusing on the author’s point of view and the struggles/motivations of the characters.
Students have built self-propelled Go carts. We are finalizing our designs and getting ready for the 2m race next week!
Our vocabulary curriculum focuses on exposing the students to their new words several times throughout the week and in different contexts. We begin each unit by reading a story that uses the new words. Next, we move to completing sentences with the words, and then there are opportunities for puzzles, games, and dramatization. We all have a great time using our new vocabulary and recognizing them during reading as well. Vocabulary assessments are every two weeks. We review the words by playing charades and Padoodle! Ask your child what their favorite vocabulary game is!
