Drama Week

Drama, Drama, Drama

Second Graders were excited to do drama this week! Each year we have actors from Charleston Stage come to our school to work on presentation and dramatic skills. During these classes, students use their bodies, voices, and imaginations to create different scenes. A favorite warm-up game is, “Baby Shark”. Second Grade actors and actresses really enjoy learning and playing engaging theater games. By practicing these theatrical skills, students are able to gain confidence when performing in front of an audience of friends and family.

Balance & Motion

Second Graders have continued to study balance, force and motion. We discovered that the trick to balancing anything is to add counterweights below the balance point. Our scholars completed challenges such as balancing books on their heads while walking and standing on one foot.  We ended our balance investigation by creating mega-mobiles out of paperclips, rubber bands, straws, and index cards. Students then designed, balanced, and hung them in the classroom.

Lunch Buddies

This week our scholars have been getting to know our classmates even more. During lunch buddies, students were paired with new friends and encouraged to learn something new about them at lunch. Scholars enjoyed getting to know something they didn’t know about a classmate and things that they have in common. Ask your Second Grader all about their different lunch buddies this week!
