Fabulous in Fourth!

Field Trip

This week Fourth Grade accompanied Third Grade on a field trip to James Island County Park. The students were split into groups and were each assigned a staff member to guide and instruct them. All students in attendance went dragon boating. They sat in boats that resembled canoes and were each given a paddle to use. Students also had the opportunity to be the drummer. The drummer sat in an elevated seat at the front of the boat and used a stick to beat a drum. This helped them row in a synchronized manner, which increased their speed. Once all boats were in the lake, there were several races that took place. Congrats to those who won!

Bird Study

On Thursday Fourth Grade was invited to attend the Second Grade bird study presentation. Our Fourth Graders had a wonderful time viewing the artwork and listening to the younger students as they showcased their slideshows and discussed their assigned birds. They each talked about their bird’s physical characteristics, habitat, offspring, lifespan, wingspan, predators, and prey. Thank you to the Second Grade for inviting us!

Billy Goats Gruff Performance

On Thursday, the elementary school students watched a performance of Billy Goats Gruff in the outdoor classroom. Fourth Grade students joined their schoolmates in welcoming a drama troupe from the College of Charleston. The performance was an opera consisting of four goats with three being friends and one being a bully. The moral of the story was to always be kind to others. Thank you to the college for coming to The Cooper School!
