First Grade Fun !!!!

Social Studies

This week in Social Studies our scholars continued taking a deeper look at the Australian Aboriginals. We focused mainly on their artwork. We learned that the Aboriginals were known for doing dot paintings. These dot paintings had many different meanings and even told special stories. These paintings consisted of tiny different color dots that made beautiful pictures. Our scholars will soon make their very own dot paintings. Stay tuned!!

Math

Our Mathematicians are diving into a new unit, Ordering and Comparing Length Measurements as Numbers.  This week, students completed a pre-assessment to show what they already know about measurement.  They were so excited to use items such as paper clips and centimeter cubes to measure length.  It’s going to a really fun unit!  Please click here for some parent tips for Module 3.

Self- Assessments

Thank you for signing up for Self-Assessment Conference times.  If you haven’t done so yet, please click here to sign up! Self-Assessment is a TCS staple and a great source of pride for the students.  For those that are unfamiliar with this, students spend time reflecting on their learning in each subject area and recording their thoughts.  We compile these reflections into portfolios, which your child will share with you during their conference time.  We are looking forward to meeting with you and hearing your child’s thoughts about their learning at The Cooper School!
