First Grade FUN !!!!

Science

This week in science our scholars wrapped up our solids and liquids unit. Our scientists have completed various fun experiments. Our scholars have learned all about the different properties of liquids such as transparency, translucency, and viscosity. Scholars have also learned what makes an object a solid. Students are able to identify solids that are natural and solids that are man-made. Ask your child what was their favorite part of this fun unit!

S.E.L

We are continuing our study of persistence and are practicing the skill by participating in activities that require persistence.  This week, students were asked to catch a ball 10 times in a row with their non-dominant hands!  It was difficult but our Scholars did not give up and had a blast trying!

Math

Our Mathematicians spent the week studying 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes.  Students are working on identifying these shapes by name and discussing and classifying them by their attributes.  We also worked on creating composite shapes.  Students are loving exploring and creating with their shapes.  Next week we will begin studying time.
