First Grade FUN !!!!

Healthy Bodies Study in Science

In Science, we continued our Healthy Bodies study. This week we focused on the food groups. Scholars composed a list and separated foods based on the five groups. On Wednesday scholars crafted together their very own vegetable, protein, dairy product, fruit or grain. On Thursday, we made a graph to represent our favorite food groups. Ask your scholar what their favorite part of science was this week.

Specials

We had a full week of Specials, including Drama, Music, Art, Movement, and Spanish. Our Specials are a great opportunity for friends to explore other areas of interest and move their bodies in creative ways!

Reading

Scholars are learning about the characteristics of avid readers and are well on their way to becoming avid readers themselves! We are learning to think about the characters’ feelings in our stories and use post-its to mark important events or feelings that we just can’t wait to share with each other.

Math

This week in math we played Dots and Bonds with our “Window Partner.”  Scholars took turns creating groups and number bonds to match the groups using their math whiteboards. We had a lot of fun creating number bonds!
