First Grade News!!

Science

This week in science our scholars learned all about the water cycle. Scholars were amazed to learn how water evaporates from the surface of the earth, rises into the atmosphere, cools and condenses into rain or snow in clouds, and falls again to the surface as precipitation. Scholars also learned the difference between the cirrus, cumulus, and stratus clouds.

Math

We are ending the school year with an introduction to counting coins.  Students are learning to identify the coins and their values and to count a mixed number of dimes, nickels, and pennies.

Reading/Writing

We have spent the week wrapping up our Author Expert projects and getting ready to present them next week.  Just a reminder, 1B will present on Tuesday and 1A will present on Wednesday.  Students are welcome to dress as their author or one of their author’s characters for their presentation.  An email will be sent out for you to view their presentations at the end of next week.  We are so proud of how persistent our Scholars have been throughout this project!
