Fluency, Friendship, and Finding Our Way

Left & Right
Kindergarten scholars spent the week reviewing left and right, and considering all of the areas of their life where knowing them was beneficial. Kindergarteners shared all of their tricks that they’ve learned to remember, helping their peers come up with more strategies to tell the difference! We’ve loved seeing Kindergarteners keep their minds sharp by playing different left vs. right games!

Fluency Partners
Kindergarteners were excited to use all of their reading skills to work with their fluency partners this week! As students have worked to master reading fluently, they know this means sounding less like a robot by smoothing the words out to sound like they do when they talk. Kindergarteners were ready for a challenge. This week, we introduced fluency games to play with partners. Young readers blew us away with their excitement and bravery while building their fluency skills!

Wrapping Up a Classic Tale of Friendship
This week, students finished up a new class favorite, Charlotte’s Web. Students have followed along with the magical story of friendship between a pig and a spider and all of the sacrifices they make to support each other. We have loved getting the chance to discuss examples of this friendship in our own lives as well as learning several new farm-related vocabulary words!
