Fourth Grade News!

In math our Fourth Graders continued to learn about systems of measurement and conversions. On Tuesday, they reviewed pounds and ounces and learned about gallons, quarts, pints, and cups. Each student created a gallon to cup conversion chart that they will use to help with measurement conversions. On Friday, the students connected dots on a worksheet using rulers in order to make three point parabolas.

In writing, our Fourth Graders worked hard to finish their compliment books for Valentine’s Day and have started to work on their self-assessment packets. Each packet contains sections on every school subject and allows the students to write about their progress, achievements, and what they need to work on in regards to themselves as students, their social-emotional learning, and their academics. Students will present their packets to their parents when we do the self-assessments in March.

Read Aloud

In read aloud, we finished “There’s an Owl in the Shower” on Wednesday and began “Who Stole the Wizard of Oz?” on Thursday. The students discussed the importance of the environment and nature after finishing the former and will now transition to our segment on mysteries for the latter. This is the first of two books that we will be reading for Read Aloud on mysteries.
