Class Social

On Wednesday afternoon we had our pizza, pretzels, and puzzles class social. Students completed various puzzles in groups of three or four while enjoying the provided pizza and snacks. A few students were able to complete their puzzles and we finished the hour by watching a Pixar short film. We love spending this social time with our students.

Reading

Students just received their new books for our unit on mysteries. Possible books include, “The Secret of the Old Clock” from the Nancy Drew series, “Chasing Vermeer” by Blue Balliett, and “Trapped” by Peg Kehret. During read aloud time, we finished “Who Stole the Wizard of Oz?” on Tuesday and are now reading, “Bunnicula: A Rabbit-tale of Mystery” by Deborah and James Howe.

Science

On Wednesday, our fourth graders finished their skeleton diagrams by cutting out the various bone shapes of the human body and connecting them to make a complete skeleton. On Thursday and Friday, students dissected owl pellets. The students took apart the pellets with tweezers and discovered hair, feathers, and animal bones within them. They then sorted the bones and categorized them based on which part of the body they belonged to.
