Fun in Fourth

Math

This week in math our Fourth Graders studied angles and rays. They learned how to use a protractor to measure angles and how to classify angles as acute, obtuse, or right. They also studied the terminology for segments, rays, and perpendicular and parallel lines.

Writing

Students began working on their literary essays on Monday. The essays are focused on their opinions of the characters in their chosen book. They first learned how to form a thesis statement and then how to use contextual evidence to support their argument.

Science

Fourth Grade continued our unit on the sun, moon, and stars this week. They learned about the eight phases of the moon such as the waxing crescent, waning crescent, first quarter, third quarter, and full moon. They also studied how to track the phases on a calendar and how to identify which phase the moon is in based on how it appears in the sky.
