Happy Fall Break!

Social Studies

We’ve had an exciting week in Social Studies! Fourth Graders have been working on learning all about Ancient Egypt. Students mummified apples this week using a mixture of baking soda and salt! We’ll be monitoring this process over the next two weeks. We’ve also been practicing writing our names in hieroglyphics!

Math

Fourth Grade mathematicians have spent most of the first trimester learning about fractions, equivalent fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers. We recently started a new unit in math where we are learning how to add and subtract fractions with denominators. Students are excelling in this area and are excited to move forward to learn about multiplication and division with fractions!

Reading

Students continue to explore myths as well as reread other myths. We have really enjoyed getting to know all the mythological characters and comparing their personalities between myths. Students have discovered that there are actually several different versions of the same myths and have spent time comparing the similarities and differences between the versions. Students are looking forward to creating their own myths which include life lessons!
