Happy Halloween!!

Field Trip

As we near the end of our Insect Study, our First Grade scholars are ready to share all the knowledge they have collected. We spent the day exploring Cypress Gardens and showing off all our insect knowledge. We began the day with an exciting bus ride where we learned some silly “Repeat After Me” songs. At Cypress Gardens we started with a boat tour around the swamp where our First Graders learned about the swamp ecosystem. Then, we participated in an interactive insect lesson where our First Graders were able to see so many of the insects they have spent the past few weeks studying. Next, we explored the butterfly garden and learned all about host plants for local butterflies! Then, our First Grade friends tried their hand at fishing and spent time trying to collect creatures from the swamp. Finally, we ended our trip with play time on the play structure.

First Grade Researchers

Our scientists have chosen their insect of study for their presentation and research has officially begun. We have a website specifically for our class and insect study! Our students have spent time exploring our website and discovering all the information they need for their project! Next week, they will begin writing their research papers!

Halloween Carnival

Our very fun week ended in the most special way! The Halloween Carnival made its return this year so our friends were able to experience it for the very first time! Our Cooper School Middle Schoolers worked very hard to design, create, and manage a carnival for the entire elementary school to enjoy! We paraded around the school as the 5th Graders judged costumes. Then, our spooky First Graders were able to choose which carnival booths they would like to play! It was a magical morning at The Cooper School.
