Happy Thanksgiving!

Reading

With our Science Fiction and Journalism units coming to an end, Fourth Grade began their new reading unit on Historical Non-Fiction this week, which will coincide with their upcoming unit on the American Revolution. They are learning the steps to launching a research project and have been identifying common text structures within a story, such as chronological, problem/solution, cause & effect, and compare/contrast.

Math

Unit 3 has finally come to an end. Fourth Graders have mastered the art of adding and subtracting fractions, mixed numbers, and whole numbers. Some of them have even figured out how to simplify and change improper fractions into mixed numbers. Now let’s see how they do with decimals after the break!

Writing

It’s officially gratitude season at TCS! In addition to creating their gratitude books, Fourth Grade has started learning about the origins of the first Thanksgiving from their American Revolution unit and the Read Alouds each day. For their morning message, students described the many things they are thankful for at TCS including friends, specials, and…MATH!
