The Cooper School Daily

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Concert

On Friday, Fourth Graders and fellow Cooper School students showed how hard work and focus on performance can really wow a crowd! In front of parents, teachers, and friends, students sang festive songs with poise and skill. Ably led by Hazel Ketchum and Tom Noren, Cooper School students once again proved that performance and presentation come as naturally to them as any other part of their academic day.

Math

Every Friday Fourth and Fifth Graders enjoy a math block full of math games.  It is one of our favorite days of the week.  The math games are carefully selected to reinforce skills learned throughout the current unit.  Students are put into teams of 3 or 4 and they rotate through 3 games within 45 minutes.  This week we had an even more special math games day!  Fourth and Fifth grade joined forces to play the games together!  Games were selected that both grade levels had learned previously and groups were created with both Fourth and Fifth Graders.  We had a blast playing and learning together.  I even think some new friendships were formed!  Ask your child what their favorite part of math games day was.

Australia

Fourth Grade continued their study of Australia this week with a focus on animals that are unique to Australia.  Each student picked one animal to research.  After learning all about their chosen animals habitat and adaptations, students then began to create an all about brochure.  We can’t wait to share these brochures with all of you!
