Happy World Kindness Day!

Grateful Hearts
Students kicked off their next Writing unit this week by considering all of the things in their life that they are grateful for. Kindergarteners started by making lists of the things that mean the most to them and then took on the challenge of really considering why. Gratitude Writing is one of our favorite Writing units, as students will be applying this writing into Gratitude Books, in which they will write and illustrate all of the things they appreciate most!

Word Part Power
This week, Kindergarteners were thrilled to activate a BRAND NEW power, our Word-Part Power! Kindergarten word scientists spent the week putting all of their knowledge about letters and sounds together to study word parts! This is a huge step in our journey to becoming readers and writers! Students took a close look at 4 snap words that we have learned: at, an, it, in, and explored adding consonants to create CVC words! This exciting discovery opened the door to so many new words!

Buzz About Buildings
Kindergarteners were so excited to kick off their study of Buildings this week. Our classroom was abuzz with students so excited to share what they knew as we started the week by talking about all of the different types of buildings they knew, all of the things that buildings have, and what it takes to build! Kindergarteners dove head first into the study with a Read Aloud of the Three Little Pigs. Students compared the materials used to build each pig’s house and were excited to share their own construction tips!
