The Cooper School Daily

Hello November!

Publishing Party

This week we wrapped up our non-fiction writing unit. Our authors worked hard on writing chapter books on their topic of choice. We learned about the importance of a Table of Contents, an Introduction and a Conclusion. Our scholars created beautiful and informational books. Our First Graders then celebrated their work with a Publishing Party! It was beautiful to watch them be so proud of their work and proud to share with their peers.

Welcome November/Gratitude

This week, as we welcome in a new month (and chilly weather) we have been buzzing the word “gratitude” around our classroom. We have spent our Morning Meetings sharing with each other people, objects, locations and feelings that we are grateful for. Our First Graders are gearing up to write their gratitude journal. In First Grade, we feel so grateful to have the time each morning to slow down and listen to each other and all that we have to be thankful for.

Spelling Stars!

Our First Grade Spelling Stars continue to amaze us with their love and excitement for learning. A very beloved part of our curriculum has become phonics and spelling. Our scholars are so excited to identify word families and create lists of spelling words.
