The Cooper School Daily

Hello October!

Take Home Books
Young readers were thrilled to choose a book from our collection of Old Favorite Storybooks to take home and share with their families this week! These Old Favorite Storybooks have been read multiple times in our classroom as we worked to identify story elements and use our storyteller’s voices. We hope that you are having fun celebrating the joy of reading with your budding reader!

“I Spy” Numbers
Students in our classroom this week were excited to gear up for a fun game of “I Spy” using all that they have learned about counting in groups. Our class spent time looking around the room for items we had one, two, or more of in our classroom. They were then challenged to an epic game of “I Spy” on our board. Students bravely stood before classmates to point out the groups of specific numbers that they spied with their little eye!

Observing Metamorphosis
This week, Kindergarteners were excited to welcome some special guests into our classroom: caterpillars! Students have been observing and recording each day as the caterpillars grow. It is so sweet to see the love and care each student has even just for these tiny bugs! We can’t wait for our little friends to get big and strong, get cozy in their chrysalis, and become the beautiful butterflies we know they will be.
