Research Assistants

Fourth Graders were thrilled to act as research assistants for the First Grade etymologists! Many of these Fourth Graders remember taking part in the insect study when they were in First Grade. Now they get to help this year’s First Graders to research their insects! Students used books and iPads to help find specific information about the First Grader’s bugs, such as where they live and what they eat. They really enjoyed finding fun facts and helping the First Graders record it. We can’t wait to see their insect

Parent Lunch

Thank you to all the parents that joined us for lunch this Wednesday. It was great fun seeing moms and dads playing Blob Tag with the Fourth Graders, it’s their favorite! I enjoyed chatting with parents and I know that parents enjoyed having a peek into their child’s day. Don’t worry if you didn’t make it… we will have another one soon!

 

 

 

 

Writing Workshop

After a Publishing Party we get to start a new unit! Our new unit of writing is called Boxes and Bullets, Personal and Persuasive Essays. This unit makes the sometimes daunting task of writing an essay seem fun and exciting. Using boxes for big ideas and bullets for reasons, students have begun to write personal essays about topics they feel strongly about. We have heard everything from their love for family members, to how much they love cookies, to why bees are important, and so much more. We are working towards persuasive essays that will convince their reader of something using evidence to support their claim.
