Hurray! Hurray! ERB Testing is Officially Over!

This week was certainly a doozy! Standardized tests can cause a lot of anxiety, stress, and unnecessary pressure. This week, our typical daily schedule was thrown out the window, and things felt a little unbalanced. Thankfully, things were back to normal by Friday and we ended the week on a good note! It’s a freeing feeling to finally be done after showing true perseverance.

Thankfully, TCS values a rich, engaging, project-based learning and a true holistic approach to learning, and I can see it truly has a positive impact on these students academic achievement, yet also influences their physical well-being and emotional and mental health.

What’s happening in Science:

Scientists explored genetics this week by taking an inventory of their own easily-observable genetic traits and comparing those inventories with others in the class. They identified the most and least common combination of traits in the class. We will investigate how the differences in DNA lead to different traits next week.

Scientists also enjoyed engineering cars powered by rubber bands this week for a fun brain break after ERB testing.

What’s up in Math?

This week, mathematicians have been working hard on their ERB assessments, however, once we finished testing for the day, students had the opportunity to practice applicable math skills by learning the code robots and this week I showed them how to code and fly drones!
