Buzz About Buildings
Kindergarteners were so excited to kick off their study of Buildings this week. Our classroom was abuzz with students so excited to share what they knew as we started the week by talking about all of the different types of buildings they know, all of the things that buildings have, and what it takes to build! Kindergarteners dove head first into the study by looking at all of the different types of homes people live in around the world!

Grateful Hearts
Students kicked off their next writing unit this week by considering all of the things in their life that they are grateful for. Kindergarteners started by making lists of the things that mean the most to them and then took on the challenge of really considering why they are grateful for these things. Gratitude Writing is one of our favorite writing units, as students will be publishing this writing into Gratitude Books, in which they will write and illustrate all of the things they appreciate most!

CityScape
As students continued their Buildings study this week, we decided to create a cityscape of our own! Students were given a strip of construction paper, and directions on how to measure and cut it. (Orange should be six cubes long, yellow should be seven cubes long, etc.). After measuring and cutting their paper to the size requested by the city, Kindergarteners transformed their paper into skyscrapers. When completed, students used scraps to create other elements of their city, including trees, street lights, and cars! Students were so excited and proud to see their work added into our small rainbow town!
