Kindergarten Magic

Clothing Investigation
Kindergarteners kicked off their latest Social Studies unit this week, all about clothing! Students began the week investigating the purposes of clothing (protection, modesty, decoration, and communication) as well as the different fabrics used in creating clothing. Students were so excited to dive in and learn all about how their clothing was made! We can’t wait to use the knowledge from this study to piece together runway looks for our Biome Fashion Show!

Persuasive Writing
This week, Kindergarteners kicked off a new writing unit learning all about the art of persuasion! Students discussed different problems around our school and the world, some solutions to those problems, as well as the people that could help. Students created signs to remind people not to litter, notes to remind other students of school rules, as well as some convincing letters to persuade parents into getting a new pet! We are so proud and excited for these young change makers!

Grandparents Day
Students were sad to learn this week that because of our peculiar year, The Cooper School would not be able to welcome grandparents into classrooms to celebrate all of their growth. We spent some time brainstorming ways that we could let them know that we were thinking of them and how we wished they could be here. Kindergarteners decided to work on a shared writing project, in which they wrote a poem to grandparents to show them all of the new things that they are learning. We can’t wait to put these treasures in the mail!
