Looking Ahead!

Reading

Readers this week have been learning about what it means to compare and contrast, how to dig deep in their text and think deeply about it, and cause and effect. These topics helped to close out our reading unit and bring us right into our reading celebration! Now we’re excited to turn our focus from Research to Poetry!

Specials

This week in Art we worked on finishing up our self portraits! Students have been working to create a portrait of themselves surrounded by words or phrases that mean something to them. Our artists are excited to share these portraits with their parents!

Social Studies

This week in Social Studies, we made salt dough! We used salt dough to create a topographic map of China. Students each made their own piece of salt dough at their desks, and then we put it all together to shape our map. Students had a great time getting their hands dirty and were so interested to see how the map came together and how to form the mountains and valleys.
