Many Moving Parts!

Field Trip

4th grade had their first field trip of the year this week! On Monday, our historians trekked downtown to the Charleston Old Exchange, the Powder Magazine and the Heyward Washington House to see firsthand how our town was impacted and involved in the American Revolution. They enjoyed a guided tour and ended the day with a nice picnic lunch in the park! We hope this insight into the past further inspired them for their upcoming project presentations.

Math

Our mathematicians have mastered the art of adding and subtracting 4 and 5 digit numbers. They learned the importance of lining up their place values and really paying attention to each number individually when it comes to composing and decomposing them. They proved their skills with their end of unit assessment on Monday and are now moving on to multiplicative comparisons and measurements!

SEL

As we move through the weeks, we continue to encourage 4th graders to understand what it means to be independent learners inside and outside of the classroom. We strive to provide all of the tools they need to be successful, such as a daily schedule and a focused schedule for each subject. Their confidence has certainly grown with this unit and we are excited to see them apply their independence in other areas of their lives!
