Student Led Conferences

Third Graders really blew us away this week with their ability to lead conferences on their own. We loved seeing students give their parents a peek into their daily lives by teaching them a favorite math game, explaining all of the pieces that went into their Asia study, and walking them through their digital portfolios and self assessments. We are so proud of all of the growth we have seen in our Third Graders this year. We are even more proud of their ability to recognize areas where they still have more room to grow!

Science

Students were thrilled to start their next Science unit this week, Structures of Life. Third Grade kicked off their study by looking at the beginning of all plant life: seeds. Students had the opportunity to dissect green beans, comparing both the size and number of beans in each pod. Third Graders were even more excited for the chance to dissect an assortment of other fruits. We were very impressed with all of the detail they put into their comparisons of seeds across different fruits!

Writing

Third Graders have spent several weeks researching Tigers, Elephants, and Pandas. All of their work is finally coming together as they got the chance to begin writing their group persuasive essays this week. The Cooper School will be completing an Earth Day project this year in an effort to help the endangered species’ of the world! In three groups, Third Graders will compose essays to be presented to the full student body next week! Each grade will present on different animals they’ve studied and have been inspired to help. Following next week’s presentations, students will vote on one organization that The Cooper School will raise funds to assist!
