November is Shaping Up

Our Clothing Study
Students were so excited to kick off our latest science unit, all about clothing! We began our study this week by discussing and diving into all of the purposes of clothing. Kindergarteners learned that clothing is used for four different purposes: modesty, communication, protection, and decoration! Students had so much fun sorting clothing by seasons to protect the wearer from weather conditions!

Donald Crews
This week Kindergarteners were introduced to our very first author study focusing on Caldecott medal winner, Donald Crews. Scholars learned that Donald Crews is an author and illustrator of  many well-loved and award winning children’s books. Students were thrilled to learn that Donald Crews has even been awarded the honorary Caldecott medal for his books, Freight Train and Truck. Scholars were thrilled to learn a fun fact about Donald Crews and how he often includes himself in his own illustrations!

A New View
Kindergarteners were thrilled to kick off our second trimester with new seats in our classroom! This week, students practiced moving and transitioning between new carpet and table seats. These exciting changes allowed for students to get a new view of the classroom and to sit with different peers at their table spots!
