Our Little Valentines

Kindergarten Playdate
This week, we were so excited to invite Kindergarteners to stay after school one afternoon for a special classwide playdate. Some students brought a favorite toy to share with their classmates as we spent an hour just celebrating the special bonds that we have built in our classroom. Students spent the afternoon playing and catching up with friends in their favorite spot, our backyard.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day
Kindergarteners were thrilled to celebrate Valentine’s Day with classmates! Students completed construction paper crafts, decorated bags to collect Valentines, and spread love everywhere. Kindergarteners could not wait to share the cards they brought for friends as well as collect the cards their friends brought in. We capped off our day by exchanging Compliment Books, which students filled with the things they like most about their peers! Students couldn’t wait to head outside to celebrate with a bake sale, Book Fair, and Bingo!

Black History Month
In observance of Black History Month, students were excited to share all that they know about different changemakers in history that have worked hard to create equality for all people. Students were especially excited to learn (or hear more) about Ruby Bridges, Harriet Tubman, Michael Jordan, and George Washington Carver! The magic in our classroom was alive as students discussed the importance of someone’s inside qualities and how skin color doesn’t say anything about a person’s character. The highlight of our week was one Kindergartener stopping us to remind us how boring the world would be if we all looked the same.
