Persisting in Fourth!

Photo Below: Fourth Graders treasure Morning Meetings to begin our school day.  Today, Fourth Graders greeted each other with silent hand greetings. They mimicked a greeting to another student in the room and then passed a new silent greeting on to the next student!

This week Fourth Grade scholars continued their Science and Social Studies unit on Africa!  As a class, students drew at random an assignment of both an African biome and an African animal in which they would become an expert! To better understand their animal, students researched the African biome’s biodiversity and then focused on their animal facts.  Scholars researched factors like social behaviors, threats, diet, and lifespan!

Fourth Graders continued their music special throughout the year with Mr. Noodle, our talented music teacher. Their progress continues to amaze us with mastery of songs like “Surfing USA” by the Beach Boys and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins.  We look forward to hearing them play until the end of the school year!

Social Emotional Learning: Persistence

In Fourth Grade’s Morning Meeting and Close of Day, students have marked their mindsets on the morning board under one of three categories: “I feel victorious” or “I feel cool, calm and collected” or “I feel at peace.”  This was especially important for us as a class to frame our mindset before taking our ERB tests this week. Students ended each day reflecting on their mindset and if it shifted after their day.  Fourth Graders focused on moments of persistence that they recognized in themselves and took moments to shine on others.
