Playtime Fun!

Reading

This week we finished the unit of a specialized “test-prep” curriculum that is intended to teach students proper test taking skills. During this unit, students learned a how to identify the narrator, predict possible test questions, read between the lines, and to outsmart tricky test questions. Fourth Grade works on this to help our students be prepared for the tests later in life!

Monday Movement

Calling all sprinters! This week your movers stretched out their legs and ran, ran, ran. We introduced two oldies, but goodies in Movement this week: Red Light/Green Light and SPUD. Both games require students to run, and they had a blast getting all that energy out! Monday Movement serves several purposes each week. It provides practice with basic skills, such as throwing, catching, kicking, and running. It promotes teamwork and sportsmanship because all games are team or group games. It also improves health by getting our bodies moving. Ask your child which game they preferred in Movement this week.

Playground Equipment

All students were super excited to have our new playground equipment installed! After reviewing the rules for using swings at TCS, students discovered that the new swings feel like they go even higher than the old ones. The climber addition on the play structure was also a huge hit! Students lined up to take turns trying out climbing up and down and hanging around!
