The Cooper School Daily

Projects, Posters, and Partners!

Centers

This week, 4th grade added centers to their daily schedule. Centers allow the students a designated time to catch up on any unfinished work, and then move on to other enrichment activities either independently, with a partner, or with a small group. The activities span across every subject and this week they include a math game, their one-word goal for the year, and extra research time for their American Revolution Project. We are so excited to see how this block helps our class grow creatively and collaboratively!

Math

Last week we moved into the ‘C’ section of our math unit that focuses on place value up to 1,000,000! This week our mathematicians learned how to round in the 1,000’s, 10,000’s, and 100,000’s place values. Students used number lines around the classroom to understand how each value is broken up and how to compare each number to each place value.

Science

This Friday marks the end of our Human Body unit. To wrap our learning up, 4th grade scientists are working with their science partners to create a poster of their favorite thing they learned. Whether they choose muscles, bones, joints, or the nervous system in general, groups will answer a specific question, provide examples, and come up with fun facts about their topic. We will be presenting these projects in class on Friday!
