Rainbows, plants, and fractions!

Math

Students have been working extra hard this week to understand fractions and how they work. This week we started out by talking about how fractions should all be equal sizes. By the end of the week mathematicians were working on identifying the shaded and non-shaded parts of fractions and writing them using a numerator and a denominator!

Centers

On Wednesday, students took part in a few different fun centers! Students tried to make rainbows using just three different colors; red, blue, and yellow. Students had a great time trying to mix the right proportion of paint to make the colors they needed! Third graders also had fun making “Mindfulness Jars” for our kinderbuddies! We mixed glitter, glitter glue, water, and a touch of soap to create these!

Science

This week in science, our scientists have been investigating seeds! We all have our very own lima beans that have begun to sprout. We’ve also been observing our carrot, corn, and pea seeds and how they’re growing in a damp, closed space. Ask your scientists to tell you about the growth they’ve seen in their seeds this week!
