Scholar Second Graders

Non-fiction Books!

Second graders have finished writing their nonfiction books! They got the chance to share with their fellow classmates. During this unit we worked on writing for an audience. Students chose an audience to write their book for then got the opportunity to share with that audience! It is so great to see the students excited about their published writing!

Inuit Study!

Students have been learning so much about the Inuit culture and the polar biome! We have been focusing on different aspects of their life each day and comparing how they used to live to modern day! They even used a chart to compare then and now in the Inuit culture!

Sugar Cube Igloo

For our polar biome project students are constructing a sugar cube igloo with glue. Each day we add a layer to form a dome at the top. Students carefully glue and add the sugar cubes to make sure their igloo is sturdy and strong! Second graders had so much fun learning about igloos that the Inuit’s built to stay warm and safe in the Arctic Circle.
