Reading

This week in Third Grade, students began working on strategies for test taking. With our ERB Standardized Testing coming up, Third Graders are looking at using test taking skills to show off the knowledge they already have. This week, students have practiced reading and answering multiple choice questions carefully and going back to check their answers. Third Graders have spent extra time working on what to expect from testing to eliminate the fear of the unknown!

Science

Third Graders were so excited to start our final Science unit this week, Water! Students had fun experimenting with water droppers, and checking multiple materials to observe which are porous. Third Graders continued their Water study by investigating surface tension and its effect on water holding shape. Students experimented with surface tension by testing the effect of soap and salt on water! Third Graders are excited to end the school year with a splash!

Spelling

Due to shorter weeks because of our April Break, students have spent the last two weeks mastering math terms in spelling. Last week, students reviewed some of their math vocabulary from the school year. Students reviewed different parts of math problems, including factors, sums, products, and quotients. This week, students reviewed the names of shapes based on the number of sides they have (as well as a few other properties).
