Second Grade Climbers

Rock Climbing

Second Graders headed over to the Outdoor Zone at the James Island County park this past Tuesday to undertake the climbing walls. Before heading out to climb, Second Graders came up with goals for themselves; these goals varied from climbing the easy wall to trying the hardest wall at least one time. We can’t wait to head back next Tuesday!

Bird Study

Second Graders have been moving along in the Bird Study. This week, everyone was assigned their bird and have started individual research. Through this research Second Graders have gathered information on their bird’s feet, beak, and wings. Be sure to ask your Second Grader which bird they are researching!

Vocabulary

This week, Second Graders focused on words from the book The Great Ball Game of the Birds and Animals by Deborah L. Duvall. This story told a legend of how the flying squirrel and bat came to be. The words we focused on from this story included; defend, boundary, perched, helpless, heaved, and intently.
