Second Grade Rules !

Writing

This week our writers have been working on revising and editing their narrative stories. Scholars have been adding more details and dialogue to make their stories come to life. Second Graders are writing their final copies and becoming illustrators as they prepare to publish their stories to the rest of the class.

Math Number Story

Our mathematicians became the authors of math texts this week where they created their own problems as well as their own solutions.  In creating their own Math Number Stories, through math equation creation, illustration creation, and solution explanation, they came full circle with how to teach themselves.

The Wild Robot

Second Grade has been reading a new book for our Read Aloud, “The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown.  This is an uplifting story about an unexpected visitor whose arrival disrupts the animal inhabitants of a rocky island. This book has a contemporary twist: the main character is a robot. Ask your scholar how they are enjoying the book so far!

We hope you can join us for TCS Family Fun Night at Opening Night for the Stingrays on Saturday, October 19th at 6:05 pm.  Tickets are $17 each. Please email amandabrodbeck@thecooperschool.org to register.
