The Cooper School Daily

Spotlight on Second Grade!

Artist of the Month!

This week we celebrated our budding artists! Second grader’s artwork was featured in The Cooper School Library. Parents, teachers and friends were invited to view students’ work and read their Artists’ Statement explaining their artwork, what they used to create it, and why it’s meaningful to them. We are so impressed with our talented class!

We Love Books!

Second grade took a trip downtown to the Charleston County Public Library! Students were so excited to explore the books, jobs, and features of the library! We will have a library in Cooper Village, so this was a great opportunity to learn more about the business we will have! We listened to a read aloud, learned about the way books are organized, and got to use our own  library cards to check out a book!

Cooper Village Update:

This week in Cooper Village, students wrote compelling essays convincing their teachers which jobs they should have. Ask your child about their exciting new careers.

On Monday, Sam’s mom, Helen Rogers visited our class to teach us about urban planning. Students were very eager to discuss the process of urban planning with someone right here in our community. They will use this new information to help plan Cooper Village.

We are continuing to research jobs, economy, natural disasters and planning! We can’t wait to see it all come together!
