Stupendous Second Graders

Second Graders were so excited to have the opportunity to participate in math centers this week. Some math games Second Graders played during these centers were Target Number, Get Your Numbers In Order, and Greatest Of Them All. Through these games Second Graders used three digit numbers to compare, list from least to greatest and vice versa, as well as subtracting the larger numbers in a race to get to the number 0. Ask your Second Grader which game was their favorite!

Second Graders welcomed another guest speaker, Will Wingfield, who shared some insights on being an architect. Will talked about the importance of planning when building a new structure. Second Graders got an inside look at the different tools that architects use and the importance of scaling floor plans. Second Graders will use this information to start building Cooper Village.

This week Second Graders have worked on identifying different parts of speech in a sentence, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Second Graders created their own sentences and went on a word hunt, labeling each part of speech that they are familiar with.
