The Cooper School Daily

Super Awesome Second Grade!

All the Shapes!

We have begun a new unit of math. Second graders are learning all about shapes. We are learning about how to identify and draw shapes. Students have learned some math games that help them reinforce their knowledge of shapes! There are so many different types of shapes we are learning about, therefore to challenge students they have to guess different shapes based on description. This helps students practice identifying shapes using numbers of sides and number of corners!

Cooper Village Construction

Construction has begun on Cooper Village. This week students planned out how their village is going to look. This includes deciding the shapes of buildings, the placement of buildings, and how to ensure our village functions smoothly. Students are getting eager to begin building each business and are excited to see all their plans come to life!

Guest Expert: Architect!

To ensure Cooper Village is built on strong foundations William Young’s Dad, Simons, came in to talk to us about architecture. Second graders learned all about what goes into planning a building to make sure it is built successfully! Mr. Simons showed us the tools and technology he uses to work on all of his building projects. Students even got a chance to plan their own house and how they would arrange the building plans!
