Reading

Second graders have started our unit about people and places. So far we have learned about the importance of needs and wants, and we are finishing up learning about communities, families and the different cultures that are a part of our world. Our students have enjoyed reading and sharing their own experiences and thoughts based on our readings.

One Word

Second Graders have been working on the One Word project that is celebrated throughout The Cooper School. Children were asked to choose one word that was meaningful to them and that they would concentrate on for the new year. They had the opportunity to write about their word and explain why it is special to them. They are all so colorful and look beautiful displayed in the room!

Movement

Movement is such an important and fun part of our week! Miss Hillary does a great job creating and incorporating activities that are fun and strengthen their gross motor skills. Movement is also vital for practicing eye/hand coordination, encouraging leadership and supporting teamwork. Ask your kids about all of the fun games they have been playing!
