Third Grade Fun !!!

Social Studies

In Social Studies this week, we learned all about the mountain biome and how mountains are formed! Do you know the difference between magma and lava? We also learned about the political regions of Asia, and the many countries it’s divided into. We even observed how the political borders of Asia have changed over the past few thousand years.

This week, Third Grade mathematicians finished the trifecta of multiplication properties and learned about parentheses and the Associative Property of multiplication. They began delving into the relationship between multiplication and division with learning about fact families. Third Graders are excited to continue strengthening their multiplication (and division) skills throughout the rest of the year.

Because Of Winn-Dixie

This week, Third Grade finished our latest read aloud novel, Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. Students laughed and fell in love with our novel’s protagonists, Opal and Winn-Dixie. Third Graders have had a blast using the story to study the characters and analyze the growth of Opal as she navigates through her new town, following the loss of her mother. We have been delighted to hear students’ recognition of the take-away lessons of Opal and her dog friend, including forgiveness and kindness.
