Third Grade Fun !!!

Math

This week in math our mathematicians focused on multiplying larger numbers and multiplying multiples of ten. Students were able to solve problems with equal groups. Scholars practiced multiplying one whole digit number and a multiple of 10 using strategies based on place value and order operations. Third graders are also enjoying relating multiplication to division. We can’t wait to dig deeper into this unit.

Reading

This week in reading our scholars continued to read The Magic Paintbrush. Third Graders made charts to compare the characters to the actions they made in the story and how the characters’ relationships change. Third graders have also noticed some similarities in The Magic Paintbrush that are happening in our class read aloud Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. Scholars are enjoying this book so much and making predictions on what will happen for every chapter.

Social Studies

In Social Studies this week scholars have been learning all about culture. We discussed the similarities between Chinese culture and our values and beliefs. Scholars have begun working on their very own culture tree that reflects their very own beliefs, values and what makes them the person they are today. We can’t wait to share our culture trees with you all!
