Third Grade News !!!!

Reading

This week, Third Graders read The Year of the Dog. This story, written by Chinese American author Grace Lin, is about a young girl trying to find her place in the world as a Chinese girl in American culture. Based loosely on her life, Grace Lin relates so beautifully to Third Graders’ thinking and feelings. Through this story, students worked on identifying character traits through their actions and words in the story.

Math

This week our mathematicians continued dividing larger numbers. Scholars were able to divide larger numbers into equal groups. Students focused on solving problems involving division within 100 with quotients over ten. Our scholars are soaring through this division unit and enjoying it so much.

Writing

This week in Writing Workshop students completed their compliment books. Third Graders worked so hard to put the finishing touches on their compliments. We are so proud of the well thought out compliments our students gave each other. We can’t wait to share these amazing books with you all on Valentine’s Day and during our Book Fair, Bingo and Bake Sale event!!
