The Cooper School Daily

T’was the Week Before Winter Break..

‘Twas the week before break and all through the school

The students were studying for final assessments… they didn’t think this was too cool.

The weather has begun to get chilly, and the students are getting little silly

The teachers are hanging on with lots of love and care,

And attempting to be quite fair

Technology is working *kinda*; middle schoolers presented the traditions of kwanzaa

The end of the 2020 school year is coming near

As we only have a few months left after the New Year!

As this poem is meant to add joy and a smile

Knowing that education always goes the extra mile

We are all ready for a nice long break, We hope everyone stays safe for goodness sake

Take this time to sit back and relax, don’t forget to eat all the treats and snacks!

Wishing everyone a happy holiday, cheers to the new year, we finally made it here!

xoxo

What’s happening in Science and Social Studies:

For social studies, students are exploring daily life in Ancient Egyptian history. This week they wrote a journal entry explaining the day in the life of a pharaoh or queen. They also studied pharaohs and created “trading cards” based on different pharaohs in Ancient Egypt.

What’s up in Math?

Middle Schoolers finished their Module 2 Assessment! Fifth-graders completed their mid-module quiz corrections. Everyone enjoyed coding scenes to represent different kwanzaa symbols using ozobots! Both grades will be ready to start on Module 3 when we get back from break!

In Writing:

Writers continued their fiction writing unit by inserting dialogue into their writing. Writers generated ideas by reviewing mentor texts, such as the Scholarship Jacket by Martha Salinas. Writers worked hard to elaborate their own story in order to engage their reader!

Important Dates:

December 21st-January 4th- Winter Break

January 5th- Students return to school!
