Compliment Books and Concerts!

Cooper School student celebrated Valentine’s Day in a very special way on Tuesday! Scholars at The Cooper School have been preparing a special project for their classmates for the past week. TCS kids created unique and thoughtful compliments for each of their classmates. Students then worked to edit and revise them, and write them on heart shaped paper. Once these papers were sorted, each student received a Compliment Book full of thoughtful compliments just for them. It is a beloved Cooper School tradition and project. After all of this sweetness, students gathered at The Circular Congregational Church downtown to perform their annual Valentine’s Day Concert for families. Their concert was such a sweet treat for a very special audience!

Explorations

Math explorations allow students time to investigate math concepts through hands-on activities. Math scholars explored the concept of congruence by building and modeling congruent figures with pattern blocks and describing their properties. Scholars know that congruent shapes have the exact same size and the exact same shape. Third Grade mathematicians also practiced drawing a series of line segments to create an intricate 8-point design during math explorations this week. The results were beautiful designs that will hang in our classroom!

Research Buddies

Third Grade researchers have been working hard to research and gather information about the: who, what, when, where, and why about their topics. They have been using Internet resources as well as books from the library to research during our Social Studies time. These brave scholars are becoming experts at locating information and putting it into their own words. On Wednesday we had guest visitors from Fourth Grade come in to help assist our young researchers on this quest for information. Scholars worked alongside each other and it was a beautiful way to build community among grade levels.
