Week 2 is on a Roll!

Reading

This week in reading we talked about finding within-reach books and reading tons of them! The students talked about how to choose a “just right” book and when to know if something is too easy or too hard. We were then able to set goals for ourselves using our reading logs and chose one thing that we could do even better than we did the day before.

Science

We are continuing with our Physics of Sound Unit! The students enjoyed sorting objects and coding them. We also played with tuning forks to hear different sounds and see how sound causes vibrations. We were able to see how the vibration of the tuning fork transferred to a ping pong ball and to a piece of paper.

Spelling

This week, 3rd graders started spelling units! Each student was given a spelling sort to work with words and learn patterns. We had a lot of fun rainbow writing our words and typing them on our Chromebooks. Students also practiced writing their spelling words in cursive.
