The Cooper School Daily

Week of January 17th

First Graders enjoyed a fun filled short week at school! Our students enjoyed new centers, had a surprise mystery reader, and attended a field trip at the Dock Street theater. Here is a little inside scoop to this week’s happenings in First Grade:

Center Time

During center time this week students conducted kangaroo research, worked with partners at various “estimation stations”, and explored the ancient Australian tradition of aboriginal dot art. We love witnessing our students expand upon their learning in class through interactive games and the creative arts!

Mystery Reader

This week our students were visited by our very first classroom mystery reader! Our students were bursting with excitement to discover who would be the special surprise visitor to our classroom. We are looking forward to continuing this fun Wednesday tradition!

Very Hungry Caterpillar

Our First Graders had a marvelous time visiting the Dock Street Theater on Wednesday to attend the Very Hungry Caterpillar! Students were delighted to see stories such as “Brown Bear Brown Bear”, “Ten Little Rubber Ducks”, and “The Very Lonely Firefly” come to life with over 75 adorable puppets!
