The Cooper School Daily

Week of March 14th

This week First Graders polished their poetry, practiced with currency, and participated in lots of Saint Patrick’s Day fun. Together we enjoyed a week filled with good luck, rainbows, and memories as pure as gold!

Poetry

This week First Grade Poets dove deep into learning & utilizing Poetry mechanics. First Graders infused rhythm, rhyming, line breaks, and stanzas into their pieces focused upon nature, animals, art, and more! First Graders will be publishing their works into this year’s Pass It On Book and reciting their piece at our annual Pass It On Event this spring!

Currency

Over the past several weeks First Graders have been introduced to various coins such as pennies, nickels, and dimes! Students have been utilizing their coins to “purchase” items from our classroom grocery store! Below, a student uses five dimes, one nickel, and two pennies to “buy” a Blueberry Granola Bar!

Saint Patrick’s Day

On Friday, Leprechauns visited TCS to bring fun & surprises to First Grade! The class got turned upside down and the Backyard was decorated with green & gold for a necklace hunt. First Graders enjoyed testing out their Leprechaun traps and participating in Saint Patrick’s themed centers.
