The Cooper School Daily

Week of March 6th

We had a fantastic week in First Grade! We launched into Poetry, wrapped up Student Led Conferences, and hosted our annual Opinion Pages presentation! Please read on for a little inside look at this week in First Grade.

Self Assessment

We loved welcoming families to campus on Monday & Tuesday for Student Led Conferences! Our students enjoyed walking their families through their growth as a student this year by playing games, reading books, and demonstrating the use of the Peace Wheel. Below, a student shares with her mother the steps involved in resolving a conflict by utilizing this unique TCS Social Emotional Tool.

Poetry

On Tuesday, students began new reading & writing units focused on poetry! Over the following weeks students will be learning about the elements of poetry such as rhythm, repetition, and rhyming, as well as trying their hand at their very own poems. This study will culminate with your annual Pass It On event this Spring.

Opinion Pages

First Graders had a marvelous time sharing their review writing pieces at today’s Opinion Pages presentation! Students loved wearing their pajamas to school and snuggling up with their very own ‘Opinion Pages’ newspaper!
